MELBOURNE – Feb 4, 2014: PROTON Holdings Berhad (PROTON) has introduced an additional model to the Suprima S hatchback range.

The race inspired Proton Suprima S ‘Super Premium’, was launched by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, Dato’ Lukman Ibrahim at the PROTON Sales Carnival held at the Malacca International Trade Centre (MITC).

The Super Premium model is for customers seeking a sportier design and features 17-inch alloy wheels, along with the R3 body kit including re-designed rear bumper, front spoiler and R3 badged side skirts.

According to Dato’ Lukman, “The Proton Suprima S Super Premium is PROTON’s most comprehensively equipped model in terms of performance, styling, safety, driving dynamics and sophistication.

The new variant will open up the Suprima S to a specific market segment that would cater to customers who give priority to car specifications”.

Powered by PROTON's 1.6L Turbo engine, with its 7-speed ProTronic CVT, the Proton Suprima S delivers power and torque equivalent to a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine. The 1.6L power plant produces 103kW @ 5000rpm with maximum torque of 205Nm from 2000 to 4000rpm. The driving dynamics of the Suprima S is enhanced with Lotus ride and handling, providing an outstanding driving experience.

Dato’ Lukman added, “The Proton Suprima S has been awarded with a 5-Star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), joining the ranks of many other international renowned models as a car that is recommended by ANCAP to be purchased by consumers attributed to its high standard of safety.”

“The Hot Press Forming (HPF) technology in the Suprima S, that provides better protection and higher body as well as structural rigidity without compromising the overall car bodyweight, as well as other safety features like the 6 airbags, Hill-Hold Assist, ESC with brake assist, Traction control and ABS brakes with EBD had allowed it to achieve the highest internationally recognised standards in all of its test categories, which is a prerequisite to obtain the highest award rating given by ANCAP,” added Dato’ Lukman.

The Proton Suprima S Premium has leather seats, a reversing camera, Push Start Button, paddle shifts, and cruise control as standard among its comprehensive list of standard features.

The Proton Suprima S was launched in Australia in January 2014, with the sportier R3 Super Premium due for introduction later in the year.
