Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Celebrates Record Year

MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – Jan 9, 2014: Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is celebrating a record-breaking 2013 with best-ever annual new vehicle registrations of 37,267 – up 19.4 per cent from 31,207 in 2012.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has also increased its market share to a record high of 13.4 per cent (12.6 per cent in 2012), strengthening its number two position in the light commercial vehicles sector.

Every vehicle in the brand’s multi award-winning model range played its part in the success. Transporter accounted for 16,269 registrations, compared with 13,976 in 2012 – up 16.4 per cent. The Caddy remained as popular as ever, with an increase in registrations from 10,844 in 2012 to 13,286 in 2013 – a growth of 22.5 per cent.

Crafter recorded 5,153 registrations, up 10.8 per cent (4,650), while deliveries of the rugged Amarok increased by 47.3 per cent (2,559) when compared with 2012 (1,737).

In addition, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also registered 3,590 passenger carriers, taking total UK registrations to 40,857, up 17.2 per cent on 2012 (34,863), pushing the brand through the magic 40,000 barrier for the first time in its history.
