S-Class Scoops 'Luxury Car Of The Year' Honour In Carbuyer Awards
MILTON KEYNES, UNITED INGDOM – Jan 3, 2014: Just three days into its first full year on-sale, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has already won an Award – scooping the ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ honour in the CarBuyer Car of the Year Awards.
Steve Fowler, Editor in Chief of CarBuyer, commented: “Mercedes has always been a byword for luxury and the new S-Class takes it to a whole new level. It manages to perfectly blend the very latest technology with traditional levels of opulence to produce the perfect luxury car.”
As it has done over generations, the S-Class continues to pioneer new technologies – all aimed at setting new class benchmarks in refinement, in safety and efficiency. Bringing new levels of driver and passenger comfort to the market – and particularly appealing in wintry conditions – the S-Class can feature seats capable of mimicking a hot stone massage and are joined by heated armrests and an interior that can be bathed in a choice of seven soothing LED-powered colours. With Magic Body Control, the S-Class can be specified with a system capable of reading the road ahead and adapts the damping accordingly to help mask even the worst potholes.
In the UK, the S-Class has remained a firm favourite with more examples being registered in the UK than any other luxury car for six out of the eight years it was on-sale. The new S-Class is aiming to build on this success with new engine derivatives joining the existing range, including the S 300 BlueTEC HYBRID and the innovative S 500 Plug-in HYBRID due to be introduced later this year.
