TORONTO--Jan. 2, 2014: Everyone has a winter driving story. Young Drivers of Canada is launching their YD Winter Driving Contest "My Funniest or Worst Winter Driving Story" on January 2nd, 2014 so entrants can share their winter driving experience. Entrants can win one of twelve Winter Driving Packages that include an online tutorial and in-car driving lessons. This prize package gives drivers hands-on defensive driving skills they can use to stay safe for many Canadian winters to come.

The exciting perk to this contest is that every person that enters will get access to an online winter driving tutorial. This contest runs during the month of January and closes on January 29th, 2013. There will be twelve total grand prize winners that will receive the Winter Driving Package that retails at $399. Three of these prize winners will be contacted and announced each week of the contest via the winter driving contest page. The Winter Driving grand prize in-car lessons will be delivered within the Greater Toronto Area on February 2nd 2014.

Torontonians are invited to share their story via a video or written post through Facebook and use the hashtag #ydwinterdriving. We all share our roads so whether you were behind the wheel, a passenger, cyclist or pedestrian, your winter driving story is welcome.

"I have been training drivers of all ages for over 25 years and the fact is that people are just plain scared to drive in the winter. I hear it all the time and people can relate to this feeling. The Young Drivers team wanted to give Torontonians a way to connect and share their winter driving stories and have a chance to win the new winter driving package our driving experts put together. It's a new year and this contest is a way to make winter driving fears a thing of the past," explains Young Drivers GTA Manager Angelo DiCicco.

This contest provides the public with an opportunity to get access to the new winter driving package from Toronto driving school Young Drivers. This program covers everything from skid prevention and control, how to drive in snow, what to do if you hit black ice, how to use your ABS brakes properly and more. The winners will have a chance to go in-vehicle with an experienced and patient winter driving Instructor who can show them invaluable defensive driving techniques.

In lead up to this contest, driving school Young Drivers has launched a winter driving site Winter Driving. This site provides helpful information and videos for both new and experienced drivers to combat the unpredictable winter road conditions.

Young Drivers of Canada is Canada's largest driver training organization and the winter driving experts. Established in 1970, YD has grown to over 140 classrooms nationally and has taught over one million novice drivers its proprietary Collisionfree! ™ Approach.
