Motor Ahead Of The Digital Radio Switchover With Volvo
LONDON - Dec 16, 2013: A revised date for the digital radio switchover can’t be set until more cars are fitted with the technology, said Communications Minister Ed Vaizey at today’s Go Digital conference.
Volvo customers needn’t worry however as they already enjoy crystal clear DAB radio fitted as standard to all new models in the range (except XC90).
Furthermore, an estimated 267,000 Volvo models already on the roads can take advantage of an aftermarket upgrade at their local Volvo dealership. The Swedish manufacturer has teamed up with market-leading DAB specialists Pure to offer the Pure Highway 300Di digital radio adapter fully fitted for £295.
Volvo Car UK managing director Nick Connor commented: “With the digital radio switchover date still unclear, we can assure our Volvo customers with both new and older models that they won’t miss out on digital radio. It allows them to enjoy medium wave radio stations such as Radio 5 Live in much greater clarity.”
Vaizey said he hoped that 50% of all new cars will have DAB as standard by next year.
DAB radio offers a range of over 250 commercial stations and a further 34 BBC radio stations available across the UK.
