BMW 3 Series Sedan and Touring introduce the Innovations package
MULGRAVE, AUSTRALIA – Nov 7, 2013: BMW Group Australia today announced details of a new ‘Innovations package’ offering for its BMW 3 Series Sedan and Touring ranges. This highly attractive package combines up to ten high-demand and innovative features in a single low-cost package offering substantial customer value. The Innovations package will be available for a short time only, from November 2013 production to March 2014 production.
Phil Horton, managing director of BMW Group Australia, said the Innovations package will add even further appeal to the popular 3 Series range.
“All the features included in this new package are sought-after, highly-valued options. The fact they are now available in a single and attractively priced package is a win-win proposition for our customers,” Horton said.
Innovations package features include:
Unique in the segment since the current BMW 3 Series was launched early last year, the BMW Head-Up Display projects high-resolution driving information in full colour directly into the driver’s field of vision. Displaying information such as current speed, navigation directions and important warnings, the BMW Head-Up Display reduces fatigue and increases safety for the occupants of the vehicle.
The Surround View feature incorporates Top-, Side- and Rear-View Cameras to provide an unparalleled view of the area directly around the vehicle when manoeuvring. The vehicle is represented as seen from above on the Control Display to enhance awareness of surrounds and visibility of obstacles close to the vehicle. Side View enhances visibility when joining a road from a side street or exit.
The Parking Assistant system makes parallel parking easier. When travelling at speeds below 35km/h, the system can measure any parking gaps the vehicle passes. When a suitable gap has been found, the Parking Assistant will steer the vehicle while the driver continues to operate the accelerator and brake pedals, supported by acoustic signals and instructions in the Control Display.
Driving Assistant combines the camera-based systems of lane departure
warning and collision warning:
The Lane Change Warning system is triggered when the driver has activated the indicator to signal their intent to change lanes. The system detects vehicles in the driver’s blind spot, as well as vehicles approaching at speed in the adjacent lane, and alerts the driver by vibrations through the steering wheel and a visual warning on the exterior mirror. The lane change warning system is activated at speeds of over 50km/h.
The Comfort Access System enables keyless vehicle access via the driver’s door, front passenger door and luggage compartment lid. This feature includes vicinity lighting integrated into the front and rear exterior door handles and hands-free opening of the tailgate via a deliberate foot movement under the rear bumper.
Front park distance, rear view camera, exterior mirrors with anti-dazzle function and an instrument cluster with extended contents are also a part of the Innovations package on BMW 3 Series Sedan and Touring variants where they are not already fitted as standard features.
With a host of high-end driver assistance systems, the Innovations package features combine to significantly enhance the safety, convenience and usability of the BMW 3 Series Sedan and Touring models.
