MELBOURNE – Oct 30, 2013: Ford has upgraded features on the Fiesta range and the Focus hatch and sedan.

The Fiesta now benefits from the addition of Emergency Assistance across the range, which was previously only available on the Fiesta ST, Focus ST and Ford Kuga, while a full-size spare wheel is now included as standard on the popular Focus Ambiente and Focus Trend.

“Emergency Assistance is a potentially life-saving service we think our Fiesta customers will value and appreciate,” according to Ford General Marketing Manager, David Katic. “We continue to aim to cascade new features into Ford vehicles and the addition of Emergency Assistance is the latest feature to join the Fiesta range.”

The Emergency Assistance system is built on the SYNC connectivity platform, Ford’s customer-focused connectivity technology, which has just arrived in the new Fiesta. Emergency Assistance is free for the life of the vehicle.

If a vehicle equipped with the activated system has been involved in an accident where the airbags have been deployed or the emergency fuel pump shut-off has been activated, the system will use an in-range paired mobile phone to deliver a critical voice message to emergency services operators, indicating that a vehicle has been involved in an accident and will open the line for hands-free communication.

The move to add a full-size spare wheel on the Focus Ambiente and Trend models was a direct response to customer demand.

“The feedback from customers was that they would prefer to have a full-size spare wheel, so we’ve responded,” Katic said. “With the recent addition of cruise control and lumbar support on the Focus Ambiente and Trend, we continually look at adding even more value into the range for customers.”
