International Nameplate Auto Dealers Will Gather in New Orleans

ALEXANDRIA, VA--Oct. 17, 2013: The American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) announced today that Bob Carter, senior vice president of automotive operations at Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., will provide keynote remarks at AIADA's 44th Annual Meeting and Luncheon on January 27, 2014. During the meeting, AIADA's dealer members and other industry leaders will gather to consider the road ahead for the U.S. international nameplate auto industry.

"Bob Carter has played a key role in steering Toyota to a position of leadership in the U.S. auto market," said AIADA President Cody Lusk. "Recognized for its commitment to creating vehicles that provide quality and value for the customer, Toyota is a standard-bearer for the international nameplate auto industry. Our dealers look forward to hearing Bob's perspective on what our industry can expect in the months and years ahead."

As TMS senior vice president of automotive operations, Carter oversees the Toyota division, the Lexus division, sales administration, Toyota Logistics Services, Toyota Motor Sales de Mexico and Toyota de Puerto Rico. Leading up to his current role, he served as group vice president and general manager of the Toyota division, and before that, held the same title at the Lexus division.

Over the course of his career, Carter has held a number of executive positions, including Toyota division vice president of sales, where he managed dealer and field operations, private-distributor interface coordination, corporate retail dealer development and public companies. He also served as Lexus division vice president of sales and dealer development.

Carter spent time in the field as general manager of TMS' Denver regional sales office and manager of Lexus eastern area office. He was also Lexus national market representation manager. Additionally, he was general manager and part owner of Hyannis Toyota in Hyannis, Mass.

Carter joined TMS in 1981 as a warranty processor. He holds a bachelor's degree in business from Shippensburg State College in Shippensburg, Pa.

In addition to Carter's remarks, AIADA's 44th Annual Meeting and Luncheon will include the presentation of the David F. Mungenast Lifetime Achievement Award and the passing of AIADA's chairman's gavel from the current chairwoman, Jenell Ross of Ohio, to the chairman-elect, Larry Kull of New Jersey.
