SAN DIEGO--October 17, 2013: DriveCam, Inc., a global driver risk management company, today announced its sponsorship of the Environmental Industry Associations’ (EIA) 2014 Driver of the Year Awards (DOTY). As a company focused on driver safety and ensuring the safety of our communities’ citizens, DriveCam is honored to join EIA in honoring those drivers who operate their vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, maintain outstanding performance records, and whose contributions have enhanced the overall image of the waste and recycling industry.

“We are honored to be part of EIA’s efforts to recognize, reward, and ultimately reinforce safe driving behavior within the waste and recycling industry and, by extension, everyone on the road.”

DriveCam has a long-standing commitment to raising driver safety levels in the waste and recycling industry, and currently provides video-based driver risk management solutions to many of its leaders—Waste Connections, Waste Management, Russell Reid, Advanced Disposal and Liquid Environmental Solutions, among others.

“We are thrilled to have DriveCam as part of this year’s program,” said EIA President and CEO Sharon H. Kneiss. “Like EIA, DriveCam is committed to the safety of workers in the waste and recycling industry, and truly cares about our members, our industry and our communities.”

“At the heart of the DriveCam solution is our passion for improving driver behavior, and our unwavering dedication to helping drivers perform every day to the best of their ability,” said DriveCam CEO and Chairman Brandon Nixon. “We are honored to be part of EIA’s efforts to recognize, reward, and ultimately reinforce safe driving behavior within the waste and recycling industry and, by extension, everyone on the road.”

Since the DOTY program was started, each year EIA has honored drivers in a number of separate categories based on company size and sector. In 2014, applicants will be broken into the following categories: Small Company, Medium Company, Regional Company Commercial, Regional Company Industrial, Regional Company Residential, Large Company Commercial, Large Company Industrial, Large Company Residential, and Public Sector. Qualified nominees must be full-time waste and/or recycling haulers at the time of nomination and at the time of winner selection and award presentation.

For 2014, the nomination deadline is Friday, November 15, 2013. For more information on the Driver of the Year program, go to DOY Nomination Process .
