TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – Oct 3, 2013: The Honda Foundation and Ferntree Gully Honda, have provided the use of a brand new Honda CR-V to Golden Memories Karaoke through the ‘Honda Heroes’ program.

A non-profit organisation, Golden Memories Karaoke visits more than 800 aged care facilities across Victoria, bringing with them the songs of yesteryear and providing residents with entertainment and an enhanced quality of life.

Mr. Stephen Collins, Chairman of The Honda Foundation, praised the work of Golden Memories Karaoke. “The new CR-V will allow Golden Memories Karaoke to present their program live to residences in rural Victoria and engage new volunteers.

“The team at Golden Memories Karaoke is making a real difference to the wellbeing of residents and we want to see this great work continue."

President of Golden Memories Karaoke Mr. Robert Ives said, “This form of entertainment is particularly beneficial to dementia residents who are at serious risk of social isolation.

“Reminiscence therapy is an important aspect of their treatment, with residents calmer, happier and more relaxed after our sessions. We’re delighted The Honda Foundation has seen the restorative power behind what we do and now with their support we can help even more people,” Mr. Ives said.

Husband and wife team, Robert and Fran Ives, will use the CR-V to transport audio-visual equipment and tow their caravan as they travel.

Dealer Principal of Ferntree Gully Honda, Mr. John Tofari, was impressed with the work of Golden Memories Karaoke and said they thoroughly deserved the donation.

The Honda Foundation aims to provide assistance to local communities and foster goodwill among Honda Australia, Honda Motor Vehicle Dealers and the public. It draws funding from Honda Dealers and Honda Australia. The Honda Foundation’s ‘Honda Heroes’ loan vehicle program supports charitable organisations through a fleet of loan vehicles, assisting with activities for the disadvantaged, disabled or those suffering from illness.
