GEICO names Ryan West as vice president of claims

WASHINGTON--August 16, 2013: Ryan West has been named vice president of claims at GEICO's corporate headquarters in Chevy Chase, Md. He succeeds Rick Hoagland, who was recently named vice president in GEICO's regional office in Buffalo, N.Y.

West began his GEICO career in 1992 as a claims service representative in GEICO's regional office in Macon, Ga. He advanced through supervisory and management positions before he moved to Lakeland, Fla., to serve as GEICO's liability director. Later, he transitioned to GEICO's executive assistant program and was named assistant vice president of claims for GEICO's regional office in Buffalo, N.Y., in 2006.

West holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Mercer University. He earned an Associate in Claims designation from the Insurance Institute of America and is a Casualty Claim Law Associate designee.
