SYDNEY – Aug 2, 2013: Holden has received honours in three categories from motoring.com.au with the VF Commodore Sportwagon, VF SS V Redline and the electric Volt all being acknowledged by 'motoring.com.au Recommends'.

This is the second consecutive year that the Holden Volt has featured in the Green Car category and the new VF Commodore continues to win hearts and minds across the country, with the Sportwagon acknowledged in the Family Car Under $30K category and the SS V Redline included in the Performance Cars Under $100K category.

Motoring.com.au and carsales.com Ltd Editor-in-Chief, Mike Sinclair, said ‘Recommends’ is a key emerging tool for new car buyers.

“The cars named as motoring.com.au ‘Recommends’ are the best of breed in their respective segments and represent canny choices for new car shoppers," Mr Sinclair said.

“The motoring.com.au crew drives literally hundreds of cars each year – new releases, both local and abroad, seven-day tests and longer-term reviews that replicate the ownership experience. We’ve used this knowledge to name our top cars, so new car buyers can short-circuit their research and fast track buying decisions,” he said.

The technologically advanced Holden VF Commodore line-up features significant new technologies which improve fuel economy, deliver extra safety and enhance the driving experience of an iconic Australian car, tailored to make it even more relevant to the needs of Australian motorists. Standard safety features include Reverse Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Alert, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Head-Up Display.

Holden has redefined its popular SS V Redline performance hero designed to deliver an even more sophisticated sports driving experience and introduces a host of new advanced technology features and an updated sports-tuned FE3 suspension package to enhance its performance credentials.

Holden’s ground-breaking extended range electric Volt introduces new advanced technology, premium infotainment and standard features including front heated seats and leather, rear camera and front and rear park assist. The Volt is capable of up to 80km of pure electric driving which means emissions free motoring, a greatly reduced carbon footprint and at approximately $2.50 to fully recharge the Volt, it also means significantly reduced running costs.

Holden Executive Director of Marketing, Phil Brook said that winning these awards demonstrates Holden’s commitment to offering customers outstanding products.

“It’s especially pleasing to see that two of Holden’s three ‘Recommends’ are for the VF Commodore – the most advanced car ever created in this country and built at our factory in Adelaide. It’s a great testament to the talent we have here at Holden.”

“The Volt has won awards all over the world and with its advanced technology and superb driving character it’s a real game changer,” said Mr Brook.

“Having three cars in motoring.com.au’s Recommends is testament to Holden’s commitment to delivering our customers some of the best vehicles on the market.”
