Mazda Posts First Quarter Profit Increase
HIROSHIMA, JAPAN – Aug 1, 2013: Mazda Corporation has achieved revenue growth and posted substantial profit increases in the Japanese financial year first quarter results, ending 30 June, 2013.
Sales revenue in the first quarter was 615.9 billion yen ($7.03 billion), an increase of 109.3 billion yen ($1.24 billion) year on year.
With 301,000 global sales, of which Australia contributed 25,535 or 8.5 per cent, Mazda posted an operating profit of 36.5 billion yen ($416.5 million), an increase of 34.7 billion yen ($396.1 million) and net income was 5.5 billion yen ($62.8 million), up 12 billion yen ($137 million).
The increases in revenue and profit can be attributed to Mazda’s improved model mix and greater sales of SKYACTIV models such as the CX-5 and All-New Mazda6.
Having posted 1.24 million global sales in 2012-2013, Mazda is on track to achieve the sales target of 1,335,000 units this financial year, ending March 2014.
