Vauxhall And Scottish Fa Agree Four-Year Sponsorship Extension
LONDON – July 31, 2013: The Scottish Football Association today announces a four-year sponsorship extension with Vauxhall Motors, which will see the number one selling car brand in Scotland maintain its position as Lead Partner to the Scotland National Teams.
The initial sponsorship, which began in January 2011, expires on 31st July 2014 and the new agreement will run until July 2018, up to and including the FIFA World Cup Finals in Russia.
Within that period, Euro 2016 will be played in France and Scotland men’s, women’s, youth and disability teams will compete in tournaments and matches throughout the world with the support of Vauxhall.
Vauxhall Chairman and Managing Director, Duncan Aldred, commented: “We are delighted to have extended our relationship with the Scottish FA and all of the Scotland National Teams.
“This affiliation has delivered tremendous levels of brand awareness and has helped further cement our position as the number one selling car brand in Scotland.
“We hope our renewed commitment will play a key role in developing the national sport over the next five years and provide the driving force behind the further progression of football in Scotland.
“Football and cars are two of our nation's biggest passions and this partnership is a clear and unequivocal sign of Vauxhall’s long standing commitment to Scottish football.
“We are delighted to have pledged our support to Scotland and look forward to a second term of productive partnership.”
Stewart Regan, Scottish FA Chief Executive, said: “We are extremely proud to have extended our relationship with Vauxhall.
“It has been the perfect partnership and the fact that the renewal was agreed well in advance of the current agreement expiring shows the Scotland sponsorship is really delivering for Vauxhall, and we have no doubt it will continue to do so.
“After experiencing the huge benefits that Vauxhall has brought to our players, supporters and media partners, we are thrilled and excited at sustaining a strong alliance for a further four years.
“I look forward to sustaining a prosperous partnership that will inspire Gordon Strachan’s side for the rest of the FIFA World Cup 2014 qualification and into the UEFA Euro 2016 campaign, and Anna Signeul’s side as they begin qualification for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 and look towards UEFA Women’s Euro 2017.”
The Luton based company has forged close links with the Scottish FA Communications, Commercial and Digital teams, with Vauxhall supporting the development of various social and digital media channels and the wider distribution of supporter-orientated video content.
The news of Vauxhall’s sponsorship renewal comes in the infancy of Gordan Strachan’s tenure as Scotland manager. After securing a memorable win against Croatia in Zagreb, Scotland turn their attentions to Wembley and the friendly with England as part of The FA’s 150th Anniversary celebrations.
To coincide with the momentous game, Vauxhall is giving fans the opportunity to win a brand new Vauxhall ADAM.
Fans are encouraged to send in their pictures of support for Scotland and England to Vauxhall’s dedicated football website (www.vauxhallfootball.co.uk) with the best pictures being selected to form a Saltire and St George’s cross on the brand new ADAMs.
The Scotland and England Vauxhall ADAMs have been designed by the stars of the respective national teams in a series of fun football videos, which include Scotland’s Robert Snodgrass, Barry Bannan and Gary Mackay-Steven, and England’s Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Daniel Sturridge, Sophie Bradley and Jill Scott.
