INDIANAPOLIS--July 22, 2013: Indiana Gov. Mike Pence joined GEICO's Chairman and CEO Tony Nicely and Berkshire Hathaway's Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett this morning for grand opening ceremonies at GEICO's new Greater Indianapolis office.

“To all of our elected officials, community partners and friends in Indiana, we want to thank you for your continuous support”

GEICO's 250 newly-hired associates also took part in the event at the 109,000-square-foot office, 101 W. 103rd St. in Carmel, Ind.

"With our low-tax rate, business-friendly climate and talented workforce, Indiana is a state that saves companies money and allows them to quickly locate and grow," Pence said. "We appreciate GEICO's confidence in Indiana and look forward to celebrating their continued success here."

Carmel Mayor James Brainard also was on hand to help welcome GEICO to the community. "We are pleased to help officially open GEICO's new office in Indiana and we are proud that it is located in Carmel," Brainard said. "GEICO is already making a positive impact on our economy with the addition of 250 jobs. As the number of employees grow, GEICO will become one of our larger employers and further stimulate the local economy as those employees will need support services, homes and places to dine, shop, play and be entertained. Carmel has worked hard to build a vibrant city where business can thrive and we look forward to GEICO's continued success."

In March of this year, GEICO announced plans to open a new service center in the Greater Indianapolis area and build a new highly-skilled and dedicated local staff. Today GEICO Chairman Nicely expressed his gratitude toward Gov. Pence and other community partners for helping spread the news about the company's hiring efforts.

"To all of our elected officials, community partners and friends in Indiana, we want to thank you for your continuous support," said Nicely. "We're thrilled to be a part of this thriving community."

The GEICO Indianapolis office now houses more than 250 sales and service associates, their training and supervisory teams, as well as additional management and support staff. GEICO's sales and service director Gary McKenzie, who's heading up the new office, expressed his appreciation to the new associates.

"I'm very impressed with the level of professionalism and positive attitude that our associates display each day," said McKenzie. "It's an exciting time to be at GEICO and I'm proud to have an outstanding team."

GEICO plans to hire additional associates in Indianapolis by the end of the year. The company is looking for motivated, friendly candidates who possess effective communication skills, the ability to provide outstanding service, strong computer and multi-tasking skills, and a desire to build a career.
