Contest Provides Opportunity for Teens with Traffic Violations to Encourage Others to Follow the Rules of the Road

CARLSBAD, CA--July 9, 2013: I DRIVE SAFELY, the nation's leading online provider of driver education training, is calling on all teen drivers who have received traffic tickets or had an accident to share their stories with other young adults by entering its Teen Essay Contest called: "My First Traffic Ticket/Accident and What I Learned."

Research shows that new drivers ages 15 to 20 get in to more fatal accidents than any other demographic. And in the midst of what is considered to be the "100 deadliest days for teen drivers" from Memorial Day to Labor Day, I DRIVE SAFELY's Teen Essay Contest is an opportunity for teens who have had traffic violations or accidents to encourage other young adults to drive safely.

"I DRIVE SAFELY is the leading provider in online teen driver's education," says George Montgomery, CEO of I DRIVE SAFELY. "We know that teen drivers are at the highest risk for tickets and accidents—higher than any other age group. In addition, we know that traffic accidents are the number one cause of death for teens. As a way to help spark the idea of safe teen driving, we want to go above and beyond the authoritative role and allow teens to educate other teens on the benefits of safe driving."

The I DRIVE SAFELY Teen Essay Contest kicks off today and runs through Labor Day, Sept. 2, 2013. Teens are encouraged to write 500 words or less about the first time they were pulled over for a traffic violation or their first accident, and what they learned from the experience. Contestants can submit their entries on an official entry form by e-mail or regular mail by 5 p.m. PST on Sept. 2. Visit Teen Essay Contest to download the official entry form and the submission/permission form, and to view the official contest rules.
