Honda Jazz Primed For International Rally Of Queensland
QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA – July 8, 2013: The Honda Jazz and Evans Motorsport head into this weekend’s International Rally of Queensland with a huge advantage over the competition, having won nine of the last nine rounds.
“This rally is a true test of man and machine,” driver Eli Evans said. “The Jazz have proven their reliability and durability. They’re basically faultless, with no major issues from day one. We’re pumped for what will be a very challenging weekend.”
If Evans and co-driver Glen Weston win this weekend, which constitutes the fourth round of the Eastcoast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship, it will be ten wins from ten starts. It’s also Weston’s home rally. “Everyone looks forward to their home event, as it’s your chance to show your worth to family and friends. This rally is probably the most difficult on the calendar, which makes it even more special for me,” Weston said.
Being an Asia Pacific round as well, the weekend will see competitors from Finland, India, Japan and New Zealand join the Australian contingent in what are renowned as very technical stages that test the strength of drivers, co-drivers and their cars. It’s also the first of the endurance rallies, so the teams that finish the weekend with relatively few problems will finish with more points.
Evans and Weston’s team mates Mark Pedder and Claire Ryan are also looking forward to the weekend’s racing. “Queensland is always super tough,” Pedder said. “The roads are rough and it’s a long event which makes it so much fun to drive.”
The International Rally of Queensland takes place in and around the Sunshine Coast from July 12 to 14.
