MELBOURNE – June 3, 2013: Nissan Motor Company has recognised Berwick Nissan in Melbourne, Victoria as its Metropolitan Dealer of the Year for Australia 2012/13 as part of its prestigious Platinum Dealer of the Year program, while Muswellbrook Nissan in New South Wales was named as Rural Dealer of the Year.

The Dealer of the Year Award provides additional recognition for dealerships that achieve the highest overall performance rating across the performance criteria. In all, ten Nissan Dealers were recognised under the Platinum Dealer program.

“Our Platinum Dealer program is about recognising the very best Nissan dealerships in Australia,” said Nissan Motor Company Australia Managing Director and CEO William F. Peffer Jr.

“The criteria for achieving Platinum status demands excellence in every area of a dealership’s operations. These ten dealerships embody the essence of The Nissan Way, not only in their sales performance but in their strong customer ethic as well.

“Nissan standards for our Dealer Network are high and keep getting higher each year, to the benefit of our entire network, our brand and of course our customers.”

Since its inception in 2005, over 40 individual Nissan dealerships from across Australia have achieved Platinum status. This year Platinum status was awarded to Macarthur Nissan (NSW), Great Lakes Nissan (NSW), Nowra Nissan (NSW), Huston Nissan (QLD), Jarrett Nissan (VIC), Northern Nissan (VIC), Northside Nissan (WA) as well as Berwick Nissan and Muswellbrook Nissan as part of their respective Dealer of The Year honours.

By virtue of achieving Platinum status in 2013, Ferntree Gully Nissan in Victoria was awarded the Nissan Platinum Master Dealer Award for achieving Platinum for eight-consecutive years – as long as Platinum status has been awarded.

Nissan achieved an all-time sales record in its 2012/13 fiscal year (April 2012 – March 2013), posting sales of 83,619 units, an increase of 20 per cent over the previous year.

Nissan’s progress is set to continue over the coming months as the Pulsar hatch, including the return of the SSS performance variant, in June, followed by the introduction of all new models in the Pathfinder SUV, Juke cross-over and Altima mid-sized sedan all in the fourth quarter of 2013.
