Mazda6 Snares Another Design Award
VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – May 31, 2013: All-New Mazda6 has received yet another design accolade following on from its ‘outstanding product design’ award at the internationally recognised red dot awards in Germany and ‘best new vehicle’ at the Atlanta International Auto Show.
Last night at the Australian International Design Awards, which honours the best in Australian and International design and innovation, All-New Mazda6 was presented with a coveted ‘Design Award’ in the automotive and transport class.
Mazda6 impressed the judges in the five criteria for good design, the clever use of new materials and new technology and the introduction of world-first innovation i-ELOOP, Mazda’s unique brake energy regeneration system.
Launched in Australia last December, the new generation Mazda6 was redesigned from the ground up featuring its elegant ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design language and includes the full suite of SKYACTIV technologies.
With its signature wing grille, prominent fenders and low rear-leaning cabin, Mazda6 is one of the most stylish, technologically advanced and safest new cars in the competitive medium segment.
With pronounced sheet metal strokes, Mazda6 evokes a controlled intensity seemingly moving yet standing still and delivers Mazda’s Jinba Ittai one-with-the-car feeling.
In a field of 12 impressive new-car submissions, only Mazda, Mercedes-Benz and Range Rover received awards.
Mazda Australia public relations manager, Steve Maciver said, “All-New Mazda6 can lay claim to being the most advanced Mazda ever produced and for good reason. SKYACTIV Technology makes the Mazda6 more fun to drive and more fuel efficient than ever before while ‘KODO: Soul of Motion’ design delivers a car that ticks all the boxes for looks and function both inside and out. For the Mazda6 to have received further recognition through the Australian International Design Awards is very satisfying and illustrates the level of detail poured into this car.”
