Chrysler Adds New SRT8 'Core' Performance Model to 300 Lineup
MELBOURNE – May 29, 2013: Enthusiast customers who crave power, handling and capability above all else have a fresh reason to get excited following Chrysler Australia’s introduction of a new performance model to its 300 range.
Developed specifically for the Australian market, the 300 SRT8 Core offers all the exhilarating performance capabilities synonymous with the SRT brand and has been designed to appeal to customers looking for a ‘pure’ driving experience.
The SRT8 Core will be a permanent addition to the Chrysler 300 range, sitting alongside the existing top-of-the-range SRT8 model and providing a second, more accessible 300 SRT option for dedicated performance enthusiasts.
With its focus on pure performance, the SRT8 Core is powered by Chrysler’s impressive 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine, which produces a stunning 347 kW of power and 631 Nm of torque.
Underpinned by decades of uncompromising V8 engine development at Chrysler, the Core’s Hemi powerplant stands tall as one of the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engines.
Yet is still manages to be economical under real-world driving conditions, courtesy of Chrysler’s latest Fuel Saver Technology multiple-displacement system (MDS), which deactivates half of the engine’s cylinders over a broad range of operating conditions.
By combining cylinder deactivation with variable valve timing (VVT) and interactive decal fuel shut off (iDFSO), the Core’s Hemi V8 engine is capable of reducing fuel usage by 5-20 per cent depending on driving conditions.
The Core is equipped with all of the major premium SRT features, such as the active exhaust system, hydraulic power steering and the awesome stopping power provided by the high-performance Brembo brakes.
Externally, the SRT8 Core has been enhanced with aggressive 20-inch alloy wheels featuring a twin-five-spoke design, machined face and black-out paint treatment in the spoke pockets. There is also ‘HEMI 6.4L’ badging in red and chrome on the front guards – a first for the 300 SRT8 – and a red ‘CORE’ badge on the bootlid.
It is available in eight exterior paint colours – Gloss Black, Ivory tri-coat pearl, Billet Silver metallic, Jazz Blue pearl, Granite crystal metallic pearl, Deep Cherry Red crystal pearl, Phantom Black tri-coat pearl and Bright White.
On the inside the Core features premium cloth black seat trim with white accent stitching and ‘SRT’ logo embroidery, along with piano black bezels and matte carbon accents on the instrument panel and centre console.
The full SRT experience is rounded off by SRT performance suspension, launch control and the 8.4-inch Uconnect multimedia touch screen display system with SRT Performance Pages, which displays specific SRT performance data and information.
The 300 SRT8 Core is on sale now at Chrysler dealers around Australia with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $56,000*, which positions it well under the Luxury Car Tax threshold and provides outstanding performance value for new car buyers.
