Team Maserati Mexico Claims Victory At The Hpa Gaucho International Polo Tournament At The O2

LONDON – May 23, 2013: Maserati was proud to sponsor a winning team at the third annual HPA Gaucho International Polo Tournament, the largest indoor polo match in the history of the event. An exciting atmosphere filled the arena of The O2, London, as spectators awaited the start of the polo filled evening. Three matches took place throughout the evening, beginning with the grand opening match between teams Merchant Hub and Hedonism Wines, followed by Maserati Mexico v Royal Salute Scotland and IG Index England v Cheval des Andes Argentina.

Team Hedonism Wines took first victory against Merchant Hub with a final score of 10-9, leaving the audience ready to see more. Spectators then witnessed a nail-biting 3-a-side 20-22 goal polo match between teams Maserati Mexico and Royal Salute Scotland. Carlitos Gracida, Luis Escobar and Captain Carlos Gracida of the Mexico team started with an impressive lead in the first two ‘chukkas’. Scotland did come back strong in the final two ‘chukkas’ leaving viewers in suspense, but with some first-rate defending, Maserati Mexico continued to maintain the lead and finally claimed a well-deserved victory winning 11-10.

After such a triumph there was no better way to celebrate than with a mesmerising Maserati Parade. Teams IG Index England and Cheval Andes Argentina arrived on pitch in dramatic style as each player came on in his own personal Maserati, closely followed by their real life horsepower, the beautiful ponies.

A very tense and close match, Argentina just clinched the win from England with a last second penalty, leaving the final score at 11-10.

After the excitement of the matches, the celebration continued at the indigO2, the O2’s smaller entertainment venue, for the Official Gaucho International Polo Tournament 2013 Players After-Party. The venue was packed with hundreds of polo enthusiasts, eagerly awaiting the awards ceremony. A surprise act on stage was the jaw-dropping dance couple Flavia Cacace and Vincent Simone, from BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, who had the whole room captivated with their incredible dance routines.
