Double Success For Mercedes-Benz Vans
MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – May 21, 2013: Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles continue to shine, this time at the 2013 Van Fleet World Honours winning overall Safety Award and Best Large Van with the Sprinter.
John Kendall, Van Fleet World Editor, said: “Mercedes-Benz was the first van manufacturer to offer Electronic Stability Program on the Sprinter 11 years ago and is the only van manufacturer to fit the safety system as standard to all its vans – Citan, Vito and Sprinter. Later this year, the new Sprinter will be the first to be fitted with Crosswind Assist as standard, to maintain stability in a strong crosswind. Collision Avoidance and Blindspot Assistance will also be available on the new model. Few rivals come close.
“As the winner of our Best Large Van award, the Sprinter offers one of the most comprehensive ranges available for a large van, including Traveliner passenger models and the chassis cab and dropside ranges. A wide choice of engines means its fleet appeal extends from rental companies to the emergency services. A new model is due in the autumn and it says a lot for the current design that Mercedes will not be changing the basic structure.”
Both Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles and passenger cars have been winning awards at the Van Fleet World and Fleet World Honours for five consecutive years now with passenger cars picking up Most Improved Fleet Manufacturer Award and the Mercedes-Benz A-Class voted Best New Car.
Andrew Lawson, National Fleet Sales Manager, said: “To win these highly coveted awards is a true indication that our products are exactly what the market requires. The Sprinter proves once again that it’s the vehicle of choice for many operators. We have an extremely loyal and high profile customer base operating the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter on their fleets whom we value and work extremely closely with. Our primary focus of substantial R&D investment is to ensure our commercial vehicles are market leaders in overall safety.”
