SYDNEY – May 21, 2013: Honda Australia has strengthened its commitment to the arts through a new partnership with Sydney Opera House.

Honda Australia Director, Mr. Stephen Collins said the partnership aligned with Honda’s philosophy of using clever thinking to bring dreams to life.

“The vision and creativity behind Sydney Opera House events parallel Honda philosophy. We felt by partnering with this world-class performing arts centre, we are able to demonstrate Honda’s clever thinking and support one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks.

“We look to partner with the leading arts organisations and events in Australia to build relevance for the Honda brand and add value to the audience experience,” says Mr. Collins.

The Opera House is Australia’s busiest and best-loved cultural precinct, one that is increasingly embracing new technology to enhance the experience of the 8.2 million people who visit the Opera House each year and engage with new generations of audiences in new ways.

A key element of the partnership is Honda’s support of the ambitious and innovative new Live at the House program. Created in partnership with YouTube, Live at the House streams Sydney Opera House’s contemporary music concerts live on YouTube. Throughout 2013, Honda will help bring the Opera House experience to anyone at anytime, wherever they are.

Jonathon Bielski, Director, Programming said;“We saw this as an opportunity to extend the reach of our live music offering even further. It is a way of opening up the Opera House experience beyond Bennelong Point to audiences wherever they are in the world.”

Live at the House has been extremely well received. Neil Finn and Paul Kelly’s Sydney Opera House residency generating over 300,000 playbacks, 41,000 hours of viewing time and concurrent streams of almost 19,000. People from 72 countries tuned in for the two and a half hour show. More recently, Canadian pop duo Tegan and Sara’s live stream from the Concert Hall generated over 600,000 playbacks on Live at the House.

The next Live at the House act is Empire of the Sun’s highly anticipated world exclusive album premiere from Vivid LIVE. It will stream live from 8.50pm (AEST) on Friday 31 May.
