(May 18) -- World champion motocross rider James Stewart began the chase for the 2013 Motorcycle-Superstore.com [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001eNHhb_7flvSTCFZ1i-3O2EA_riT0d0JxJTVQPAJ8UwDvBtGh7ECtNdq7qITTK45tkMImZEPqGynp8eve_z4U2sLSE58UrHX-Zmkk2WE_zzbFJ2FAwSMutkaYbXrYduZ9] Holeshot Championship by sweeping both 450 motos at Saturday's Red Bull Hangtown Motocross Classic in northern California. In doing so, Stewart earned the maximum of four points in the season-long chase, which will be conducted at all 12 events on the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship tour. In 250 action, Blake Baggett and Zach Bell each earned holeshots, Baggett in Moto 1 and Bell in Moto 2. "I did exactly what I wanted to do in both motos," said Stewart, who finished both 450 races in third place on his Yoshimura Suzuki for an overall third-place ranking. "I'm really, really happy to get both holeshots and I'm pretty pleased with how the races went today, especially after not racing outdoors last year. "What Motorcycle Superstore has done in bringing back the Holeshot Championship is very cool. I want to thank those guys a bunch." Riders in both the 450 and 250 categories will have a chance to earn points in each of the 24 motos on the schedule. Moto 1 holeshot winners earn one point, Moto 2 winners earn two points, and any rider that claims both holeshots in one day gets a bonus point. At the end of the season, the top rider in each class will win the Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot Championship and a large cash reward -- $25,000 for the 450 champ and $15,000 for the 250 titlist. After finishing 19th in Moto 1, Bell had the throttle of his GEICO Honda CRF250R pinned in Moto 2, taking the first turn in first place and earning two points in the process. The move put him in the early lead over Baggett in the points standings. Baggett earned the first holeshot on his Monster Energy Kawasaki and was awarded one point. "I had a really strong start (in Moto 1) and it was kind of a surprise to get the holeshot because that's not normally something that happens for me," Baggett said. "It just all came together here in Hangtown and I'm really excited about that." In racing action, Baggett had a much better day, finishing in third and second for an overall second-place result. After earning his holeshot in Moto 2, Bell failed to finish the second race, pulling off the track just past the midway point of the race.
