En su última etapa, el Dakar Tour se detuvo en Barcelona. Los pilotos españoles desbordan de energía y de proyectos para volver a ser una de las potencias más importantes de la competencia. España guarda un lugar privilegiado en la historia del Dakar por haber formado ganadores del rally como Joan "Nani" Roma, Marc Coma y Carlos Sainz, pero también por haber sido de peso durante mucho tiempo en la carrera por la cantidad de representantes, ubicados en todos los niveles de la clasificación. Teniendo en cuenta la afluencia y la excitación constatada en la última presentación de la tournée del Dakar Tour, el clan español parece estar bien decidido a retomar su lugar en los próximos años. En todo caso es el sentimiento de Etienne Lavigne, regocijado con su estadía en la capital catalana, que había recibido la largada de la edición 2005: "No había venido a España desde hacía varios años, y me emociono cuando veo la motivación intacta de los pilotos, que los proyectos se montan con coherencia y entusiasmo a la vez. Tengo la impresión que aún no han dicho su última palabra, ¡lejos de eso!". Desde el mes de enero próximo, parecería que los candidatos españoles al título serán muchos, especialmente en moto. Marc Coma no pudo ir a Barcelona pero evidentemente prevé un regreso al Dakar en Rosario en el mes de enero. Sus compatriotas serán muchos en querer disputarle el rol de abanderado. Ciertamente será el caso de Joan Barreda y de Juan Pedrero, que ayer llevaban ropas nuevas que les daban un aire de libertad? ¡El paisaje de la disciplina podría dibujarse nuevamente! En auto, las inscripciones de unos y de otros aún no están validadas pero sin embargo parece darse por sentado que Nani Roma, actual líder del campeonato del mundo de todo terreno, defiende sus chances al volante de un Mini chez X-Raid. Nadie sabe todavía si Carlos Sainz volverá con la experiencia buggy dentro del team Qatar Red Bull. Pero Lucas Cruz, el copiloto de Nasser Al Attiyah al comienzo del año, no se privó en transmitir a los medios y a los invitados presentes las ambiciones de su patrón y vecino de habitáculo: rápidamente se vieron algunas fotos del nuevo auto en preparación ¡y podría llegar a pasar que la escudería alinee tres o cuatro modelos! The Spanish riders and drivers are teeming with energy and plans to once again become one of the major powers on the event. In the car category, few commitments to race have yet been confirmed, but it seems certain that Nani Roma, the current leader of the all-terrain world championships, will be taking his chances behind the wheel of an X-Raid mini. Nobody knows whether Carlos Sainz will reacquaint himself with the buggy experience as part of the Qatar Red Bull team.
