Vauxhall Welcomes New Baby Zafira
LUTON, UNITED KINGDOM – May 16, 2013: Vauxhall greeted Zafira, the baby girl born in the back of a Vauxhall MPV, and her mother Corin Stokes into their home town dealership, Murketts of Royston, Hertfordshire today.
Born last week en route to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, Lyla May Zafira Stokes was delivered by her mother in the back seat of the car as her father drove. The proud parents did not look any further than the popular Vauxhall MPV for inspiration for the new baby girl’s distinctive middle name.
After catching Vauxhall’s attention from an article in the local paper, Mrs Stokes was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a free service as a gift on behalf of the whole team at Vauxhall Motors.
“We’d already decided on May, and my husband wanted to add Zafira after what happened,” said Mrs Stokes. “It’ll certainly be a good story to tell her when she’s older. We’d also like to thank for Vauxhall for their kind gesture.”
“Thinking up names for children is always a tricky decision for any parents,” said Stuart Wright from Vauxhall’s Murketts of Royston dealership on Old North Road. “We are delighted that Mr and Mrs Stokes took inspiration from one of our top-selling models.”
Mum and baby are both doing well and Lyla is now home with big brother Liam, four, and sister Freya, two.
Vauxhall invented the compact seven-seat MPV over a decade ago and the model has been a best seller for the Luton-based manufacturer ever since.
