Dana Earns National Recognition from Quality Council of India

MAUMEE, OH--April 11, 2013: Dana Holding Corporation announced today that its Spicer India Ltd. facility in Jodalli, India, earned the D.L. Shah Quality Award for excellence in manufacturing.

The Shah Quality Awards recognize successful projects of an organization that have resulted in continuous improvement in delivery of products or services and demonstrate efficient and effective operations, as well as increased stakeholder satisfaction.  It is awarded in five sectors: manufacturing; general service; information technology; health care; and finance.

"Dana continuously pursues improvements in the quality of our manufactured parts, which is essential to maintaining our technology leadership," said Mark Wallace, president of Dana Light Vehicle Driveline Technologies.  "We are honored to be recognized for this achievement, because it demonstrates the commitment of our people to deliver the highest quality parts to our customers across the globe."

The Jodalli facility's case study was selected first among 75 entries and was assessed on financial benefits, impact, diagnosis of a problem, methodology, sustainability, innovation in approach, application, and technique.

The case study highlighted a team of 16 Dana employees from across business functions working on five projects simultaneously using the Dana Operating System -- a standard problem-solving methodology to improve quality and ensure manufacturing excellence -- to achieve a Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) of zero.

The Quality Council of India, comprised of industry and Indian government officials, honored Dana with the award during the 8th National Quality Conclave in New Delhi.
