DETROIT--April 10, 2013:  Freudenberg Group companies fully embrace the challenge presented by 2013 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) World Congress theme "Achieving Efficiency." Freudenberg Business Groups and its employees actively participate in the SAE World Congress and are strongly involved in other SAE sponsored projects and programs with the same goal.

"Innovation, responsibility and long term orientation all belong to Freudenberg's Guiding Principles. Active participation in the programs of the International SAE provides a valuable opportunity for our engineering experts to share their skills and know-how and actively participate in shaping the future of automotive engineering," says Leesa Smith, Freudenberg North America president and regional representative.

During the upcoming SAE World Congress in Detroit, Kluber Lubrication North America L.P., a Company of the Freudenberg Group and one of the world's leading manufacturers of specialty lubricants, will hold two TechDays at Cobo Hall. On April 17-18, Kluber experts in the automotive and bearing industries will share the latest innovative, advanced, and high performance lubrication solutions designed to solve the industry's most difficult problems.

At the same time, Dr. Sai Sundararaman, scientist specialist at Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies (FNST), will present a paper entitled "Material Wear Evaluation Using Temperature Controlled Wear Testing," and Joe Walker, FNST corporate director, material development and chemical regulatory compliance, Americas, will be a panelist in a Chat with Experts Session: Communicating lubricant and hardware requirements, limitations and mutual performance expectations; Are we getting our specifications right?

"The advances in the automotive industry related to fuel efficiency are remarkable, and we can make further improvements through attacking the problem on all fronts related to sealing and lubrication. SAE involvement gives us an opportunity to do just that," says Rory Pawl, FNST director of future technology. Pawl and Mike Rowe, strategic product development manager are involved with another important SAE initiative aimed at developing the next generation of automotive engineers through collegiate design competitions.  Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies (FNST) is a sponsor of the University of Michigan team in the 2013 SAE Supermileage competition where Pawl and Rowe serve as team mentors. The sponsorship involves both financial and professional resources where FNST can offer a number of products that can be used in this project to maximize fuel economy.
