VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – Feb 18, 2013: Australian designer Wayne Cooper and model Kate Peck are no strangers to competition, but they’ll be taken from their catwalk comfort zones when they line up for the Mazda6 Celebrity Challenge, as part of the 2013 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix.

After climbing to the top of Australia’s fashion industry with his signature style, Cooper will next attempt to finish on top of the podium against 19 other drivers at this year’s Mazda6 Celebrity Challenge on the famous Albert Park street circuit.

One of those drivers standing in his way will be international model and MTV presenter and VJ Kate Peck. A die hard motorsport fan and former Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix Ambassador, Peck will line up alongside Cooper and battle it out for line honours next month.

Cooper was kind enough to style Kate in his new “Scuba Racer Back” dress during their unveiling, and said that with event training starting in less than three weeks, he was anxious to get to Melbourne.

“I’ve had a go in go carts, but never done anything like this before, so for me this is really about pushing myself to see how well I can do in something I’m new to,” said Cooper. “I obviously want to win it, but really I just don’t want to let myself down.”

Peck was elated to be returning to Melbourne for the 2013 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix and said being given the opportunity to race this year would offer up a whole new perspective on the event.

“I was at the event in 2012 as the event Ambassador, but plan on leaving in 2013 as the winner of the Mazda6 Celebrity Challenge,” said Peck. “Either way, it’s going to be so much fun.”

The Mazda6 Celebrity Challenge features 20 vehicles and will bring together celebrities from all facets of Australian society including sport, music, media, entertainment and restaurants.
