It's Snowtime For Kia
LONDON – Feb 4, 2013: Kia Motors (UK) Limited is proud to be supporting the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) at the 2013 Inter Services Skiing and Snowboarding Championships in France.
Kia are putting Sports Producer Jon Knighton and BFBS Sports Reporter Cath Brazier into a top-specification Kia Sportage 2.0 CRDi KX-4 for the 12 hour journey to Meribel and to move their equipment around the Alps for the five-day competition.
The championships will see more than 200 members of The British Army, The Royal Navy and The Royal Air Force taking part in skiing, snowboarding and Telemark races from Monday February 4. Meribel is an Olympic standard venue, so with pistes amongst the best in Europe and with many of the competitors being international sportsmen and women, the standard of competition is extremely high.
Knighton said: “This is a great forces sporting event and I’m delighted and very grateful to Kia for giving us the means to get our team and all our equipment, which includes cameras, microphones and radio broadcast and computer equipment, to the slopes.
“Without a capable 4x4 it is difficult to get to the French Alps and also get around the mountain roads to the various slopes we need to film from. Kia has offered a great vehicle to us. It will help us help cover this event for the British Forces, who deserve our support in all the things they do,” added Knighton.
Based in Buckinghamshire, BFBS has broadcast to the British Military for almost seventy years, giving servicemen and women around the world the news and sport as if they were at home. BFBS Radio is available on DAB Digital Radio in the UK, on FM across the Forces world, on Sky Guide 0211, Freesat Channel 786, www.bfbs.com and via the BFBS smartphone App.
