GENEVA – Jan 30, 2013:
The 2013 Geneva International Motor Show will open its doors to the public from March 7-17. This will be the opportunity for visitors to discover the latest improvements to the exhibition halls of PALEXPO in order to enjoy even more welcoming and enhanced conditions. They will also experience the enlarged Hall 6 and the new Hall 3 which has been reconfigured and refitted. In addition, the new system of solar panels on the roof of PALEXPO will directly produce a part of the energy consumed by the exhibitors.
Every year, the Geneva International Motor Show has had to turn potential exhibitors away due to the limited exposition space available. Even if the new additional space available in 2013 in Hall 6 is not sufficient to totally eliminate the waiting list, it will at least allow new exhibitors to be added and will provide more space for existing exhibitors as well. In effect, the 5,000 square meter of new space will be occupied by Citroen, Infiniti, Kia, and Qoros, a Chinese manufacturer who has chosen Geneva to make its European debut.
The space behind the main entrance of PALEXPO has been reconfigured and from now on will be occupied by the completely new Hall 3 of 1,800 square meters through extending Hall 4 and providing a direct access to Hall 2, the restaurants, and the Congress Centre. In this more spacious area for exhibitors to present a diverse range of products and services, visitors will find the Swiss automotive associations ACS, AGVS, TCS and auto-suisse, the publishers Motor Presse Stuttgart, Quattroruote, and Revue Automobil/Automobil Revue, and the new exhibitors Carwing, Innovative Mobility Automobile, and Autoscout.
Last July, PALEXPO and Geneva Industrial Services (SIG) inaugurated the largest solar panel system in Switzerland established on the roof of PALEXPO. This installation is composed of 15,000 solar panels covering 48,000 square meters. In order to satisfy the technical requirements of this installation, the structure of the roof was reinforced so that today it will also allow additional possibilities for exhibitors to suspend more decorative elements and lighting options, enabling them to enhance the attractiveness of their stands.
The Geneva International Motor Show is a member of the « Top 5 » of the world’s motor shows, and the only one recognised by the OICA (International Organisation of Automobile Constructors) that takes place each year in Europe. PALEXPO and the organisers are making the continuous investment and improvements necessary to remain in this limited and coveted circle. The Geneva International Motor Show will take place again for the 83rd time and will present to its visitors some 900 vehicles, including more than one hundred new models, in a framework and environment that is constantly improving and adaptable.
