Mitsubishi EV Network Expands
SYDNEY – Jan 24, 2013: Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) today reaffirmed that it has no plans to remove the i-MiEV 100% electric vehicle from the Australian market.
Mr Oshikiri, MMAL’s CEO stated that efforts to make more i-MiEVs available at more dealerships will help increase the opportunity for the public to experience the electric car.
Mr Oshikiri said “We have been implementing an expansion plan to increase electric vehicles and PHEV sales in Australia by making them more widely available.”
Previously the i-MiEV was only available at nine specialised dealerships; with this new distribution plan the i-MiEV is now available across a larger number of Mitsubishi dealerships.
The exposure program offer was opened up to the network in December 2012, and to date 70 dealerships have ordered 81 i-MiEVs, with several dealers taking multiple cars.
Originally offered to 110 Foundation Customers in 2010 and then going on sale to the general public in August 2011, MMAL has sold 59 i-MiEVs to government, fleets and the general public. Another 81 are now on sale within the dealer network, bringing total sales of i-MiEV in Australia to 250.
Mr Oshikiri said “Mitsubishi believes the future of electric vehicles is bright and we are proud to offer Australians the opportunity to purchase their own EV and make the choice towards a greener future.”
“We are looking towards the future and getting ready for our next step in electric vehicle technology, the PHEV.”
The all new Outlander PHEV is the world’s first plug in SUV, due in Australia in mid-2013.
