TUCSON, AZ--January 9, 2013: GEICO and Safe Kids Tucson are offering complimentary "Ride Safe Kids" child safety education classes starting Feb. 11. Car seats will be awarded to families upon completion of a 90-minute family auto safety class.

“It is important to remember that the best car seat is the one that correctly fits the child and the vehicle, and is used correctly every time.”

Pre-registration for the classes is required, since class sizes are capped at 18. Call 520-546-7340 to reserve a spot and to share the child's age and weight to ensure the right car seat is reserved for your family.

"With so many car seats types available, it's important for families to know how to properly secure their child in the seat," said Martha Furnas, GEICO's regional vice president. "GEICO is proud to partner with Safe Kids Tucson again this year to educate families on how to keep their children safe in vehicles."

Safe Kids Tucson coordinator Yomaira Diaz said car seats reduce fatal injury by more than 70 percent for infants and by 54 percent for children through age 4.

"If parents are wondering if their child is riding safely in the proper car seat, this class will answer their questions," said Diaz. "It is important to remember that the best car seat is the one that correctly fits the child and the vehicle, and is used correctly every time."

Classes are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month, starting Feb. 11 and March 11, at GEICO's Tucson office, located at 930 N. Finance Center Drive, near Speedway and Kolb.

Classes are also scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month, starting Feb. 27 and March 27, at Apollo Middle School, 265 W. Nebraska St., near Irvington Road and Nebraska.

The schedule of classes on the second Monday and fourth Wednesday of every month continues through June 2013.
