MELBOURNE – Dec 14, 2012: Holden has hosted a collision repair forum at Holden Headquarters in Port Melbourne to highlight some of the specific points of difference and safety considerations for repair of the all-new Holden Volt.

The event was attended by a broad spectrum of representatives from the insurance industry, collision repair associations, collision repair businesses and industry training organisations.

Volt subject matter experts were on hand to answer questions related to the Volt’s unique technology and the repair process associated with the car.

Holden Manager for Vehicle Structure & Safety Integration Steve Curtis introduced some of the new safety and technology features in the Volt and considerations when carrying out a repair.

“Holden Volt is the first car of its kind in Australia, and many repairers may have never dealt with an electric vehicle in their workshops before. Our objective is to provide an insight into the vehicle and how to approach repairing it after a collision.

“With the amount of advanced active and passive safety features in the Volt, it is very important for us to show the industry how to repair vehicles as best as possible in the unfortunate event of an accident.”

“The repairer wants to deliver the best possible product back to their customer, and the best way to do that is to understand the materials used and to follow our GM developed repair procedures available via GM Tech Info.”

The Collision Forum is just one of a range ways Holden is looking to strengthen relationships with the collision industry. Today, Holden also announced a partnership with I-Car, the Inter-Industry Conferences on Auto Collision Repair, to develop and deliver technical training programs to professionals in all areas of the collision industry.

Holden will also host similar industry nights for future product launches
