Nissan Named as One of BRW Magazine's 2012 Most Innovative Companies
VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – Dec 6, 2012: Nissan was named as one of 30 companies on the inaugural innovators list by the prestigious weekly business magazine, ranked 23rd overall and the only automotive company included in the list.
The Nissan LEAF, the first mass-produced, purpose-built, all-electric car on the Australian market, led the accolades for Nissan. Not only was the technology in the LEAF acknowledged, but also Nissan’s efforts to educate consumers about the LEAF, particularly its ‘A World Without Petrol’ campaign.
Nissan designed an outdoor ambient exhibition Sydney’s Circular Quay and Federation Square in Melbourne featuring re-purposed petrol bowsers. Over 40 bowsers were redesigned into useful items including a fish tank, gumball machine, London phone box, amplifier and Pac Man arcade game with a seven bowser fountain as the centrepiece.
“Nissan prides itself on offering ‘Innovation and Excitement for Everyone’ so we are thrilled to be recognised as one of the 30 Most Innovative Companies of 2012 by BRW Magazine,” said Nissan Australia Managing Director and CEO William F. Peffer Jr.
“Innovation is at the heart of what we do at Nissan, with the Nissan LEAF at the forefront of that thinking as the world’s first all-electric, purpose-built mass produced vehicle.
“With so many innovative and exciting new products on the horizon, highlighted by the return of Pulsar, our entry into the V8 Supercars Championship and innovations in all parts of our business, there has never been a more exciting time for Nissan in Australia.”
Celebrating today’s pioneers of Australian business, the BRW Most Innovative Companies list features companies turning inspiration into innovation. The Innovation edition of BRW Magazine is on sale now.
