CONCORD, Nov. 1, 2012: Texas may be known for cattle and oil, but for Carl Edwards Texas is all about victory lane. Edwards has more NASCAR Sprint Cup wins at Texas than any other driver and he hopes to add to his record Sunday in the AAA Texas 500.

Edwards has earned three Cup wins at the 1.5-mile oval dating back to November 6, 2005. Then he swept the 2008 season winning both the spring and fall events there. He has led 493 laps in Cup competition and turned 340 of the fastest laps. In addition to his Cup record, Edwards also has two Nationwide wins at Texas (fall 2010 and spring 2011).

“We’re headed to Texas in our Aflac Ford this weekend,” Edwards said. “Greg (Biffle) won there in the spring and we feel like with a win, or two, just like in 2010 when we won the last two races it kept the guys pumped up through the whole off season. Everybody was raring to go in 2011 and we pretty much dominated other than Tony (Stewart) coming on strong at the end. We need to do that again right now.

“Texas is a fun track for me and our team. Just like a lot of the mile-and-a-halves this one requires everything to be right. You have to have a big engine, a good pit crew and qualify well. All those things are tough and I think that this race, even just the race itself as it goes on you get to see who has their ducks in a row better than other guys. We are hoping we can get our Aflac Ford to victory lane for our fourth win there. That would be big.”

The AAA Texas 500 will start at 3pm ET (2pm CT) on Sunday, November 4. It will be televised live on ESPN and broadcast on PRN radio.
