1 Millionth Fifth Generation Polo now calls Down Under Home
SYDNEY – Oct 24, 2012: After a long journey from the Volkswagen factory in Pamplona, Spain, the 1 millionth production vehicle of the fifth generation Polo has finally arrived in its new hometown of Sydney. The vehicle departed Spain in July with a grand send-off to embark on the journey to Australia to finally arrive in Port Kembla, NSW, in October.
The white Polo GTI has now been introduced to its new owner, Allan Anonat, who was excited at the prospect of calling this special vehicle his own. Barloworld Volkswagen Mascot Dealer Principal, Darryl Pribut, had the honour of personally delivering the vehicle.
Since its launch in Australia in 2010, the fifth generation Polo range has shaken up the local automotive scene, taking out a range of major awards. Accolades include 2010 Wheels Magazine Car of the Year, 2010 Carsguide Car of the Year, Best City Car in 2010 and 2011 DRIVE Car of the Year awards (Polo 77TSI), Best Light Car over $20,000 in Australia’s Best Cars in both 2010 and 2011 (Polo 66TDI) as well as being named Motor Magazine‘s 2011 and 2012 ‚Bang for Your Buck‘ (Polo GTI).
