GEICO Tricky Traffic Challenges Drivers and Their Safe Driving Skills

WASHINGTON--October 19, 2012: Welcome to Geckoville! It's GEICO's digital town where drivers can test their driving skills and knowledge of road safety.

“GEICO Tricky Traffic not only entertains drivers, but also illustrates the basic rules of the road”

In the new mobile game, GEICO Tricky Traffic presents players with plenty of challenges.

For example, while you're cruising through the streets of Geckoville, pedestrians will spring across your path as they make their way through busy intersections. Cars will come at you at high-speeds. When should you stop, turn and yield to oncoming cars and pedestrians? Can you keep a safe distance between cars?

Throughout the game, your reaction time will be tested as you size up each driving situation.

The good news is that, unlike real driving scenarios, GEICO Tricky Traffic gives you three lives (three chances) to score points. But strike a pedestrian or hit a car three times, you're out. Well, not entirely. Ready to help you is the GEICO Gecko who makes appearances and offers safe driving tips to conquer tricky obstacles. After completing the round, players can go to the next level. They also can earn a badge and share scores with friends on Twitter and Facebook.

"GEICO Tricky Traffic not only entertains drivers, but also illustrates the basic rules of the road," said Janice Minshall, GEICO's assistant vice president. "This is another effort for GEICO to encourage drivers to learn the importance of safe driving."

Peter Meoli, GEICO's mobile development team manager, noted that the "GEICO Tricky Traffic game is one of the company's first apps specifically made for young drivers. However, many experienced drivers might find it entertaining and challenging, similar to the Guinea Pig Getaway app."
