ANNAPOLIS, MD--Who is the best in the valet parking industry? Who is the top valet parker in the country? Soon, the nation will know the answer to these questions as teams of valet parkers compete bumper-to-bumper for the coveted team and individual titles. At the National Valet Parking Association's Annual Meeting and coupled with the NPA's convention and expo, valet teams representing valet parking companies from coast to coast will compete in the National Valet Olympics. The honored "Herb Citrin Trophy" (named after the association's honorary member, Herb Citrin) is up for grabs as each team competes to win the Gold Medal. The Top Valet in the World wins a cash prize, along with runner up prizes.
The Association, founded in 2002, is staging the 2012 Valet Olympics on Wednesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 18th at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The competition designed to recognize the country's best valets will be the featured event at the National Valet Parking Association's annual meeting set for October 17th & 18th, also taking place at the Westin Diplomat.
The 40 to 60 Olympic athletes vying for the coveted titles and enviable bragging rights are made up of nine teams from valet companies around the country - AAA Parking, Advanced Parking Concepts, Ameripark, Minuteman Parking, Seven One Seven Parking, Sunset Parking, Towne Park, Ultimate Hospitality and Valet Parking Service, Illinois. The festivities jump start on the evening of Wednesday, October 17th with an Athletes' Reception and the Key Jumble competition. On October 18th, the rest of the competition will measure their skills in four more events including: Valet Relay, Individual Maneuvering, Slalom and Luggage Load Relay. These events will showcase contestants' skills in vehicle movements, memory/quick thinking, parking and precision handling. The NVPA will highlight the day's competition with a Cocktail Reception and Awards Ceremony parked for October 18, 2012 beginning at 4:30 PM at the Westin.
