MELBOURNE – Oct 11, 2012: One of the most varied and eclectic array of memorabilia, bric-a-brac and garagenalia that Shannons has ever handled is going under the hammer in Melbourne from 1.00pm this Sunday (October 14).

The amazing private collector of confessed ‘Bower Bird’ Ron Kirwan includes life-size statues of a Red Indian and Marilyn Monroe, an enormous moose head, a mounted wildebeest head, a late 19th Century Koken American quarter oak barbers’ chair, quality period and reproduction furniture and a large and very collectible Seeburg 100 Select-o-Matic juke box.

Kirwan’s collection is also rich in Route 66-inspired garagenalia and includes a range of period petrol pumps from the 1920s to 1980, a section of beautiful imported and local Neon garage signs and oil racks ideal for an enthusiast’s garage.

A set of traffic lights, drive-In theatre speakers and a brace of parking meters might be adornments to an interesting bedroom or a holiday house!

All memorabilia lots are being offered with no reserve.

A selection of spectacular custom-built show cars and other unique vehicles is also being sold as part of the collection, with the highlight for Australian Muscle Car Enthusiasts being a fully-restored 1970 Ford Falcon XW GT ($100,000-$125,000).

A spectacular award-winning 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Seville hand-customised by John D’Agostino and brought to Australia by the late Rene Rivkin is expected to bring $75,000-$95,000; a stunning and award-winning 1959 Holden FC Crewman Utility Street Machine should sell in the $80,000-$90,000 range; a beautiful, customised 1956 Chevrolet ‘Hotrod’ pick-up truck is expected to bring $45,000-$55,000 and a traffic-stopping 1939 Studebaker ‘Hotrod’ Utility finished in eye-watering Violet Kandy is slated to make $25,000-$35,000.

Another highly unusual vehicle is a circa 2000 Daihatsu Midget II Promotional Tow Truck finished in a combination of Orange Pearl and Burgundy, that is expected to sell with no reserve for $5,000-$10.000.

The Private Collector Auction presented by Shannons will be staged at Shannons Melbourne showroom, 321 Warrigal Road, Melbourne, commencing at 1pm on Sunday October 14.

All lots are available for inspection in the showroom from 9am-5pm this Saturday and from 10am until the auction on Sunday.
