Sydney-Based Duo Crowned in Audi's National Golf Final
SYDNEY – Oct 9, 2012: The 2012 quattro cup golf season ended yesterday in a thrilling finale at the NSW Golf Club at Henry Head, with Audi owner, Jason Rubenstein and Giora Friede clinching victory. Out of thirty two participants who competed at the Australian final, Rubenstein and Friede will go on to represent Australia at Audi’s Quattro Cup world final in South Africa.
The runners up, Michael Ji and Hugo Lao, are customers of Auto Sports Group.
Ironically, both Rubenstein and Friede and originally hail from South Africa and both gentlemen have played the course at Arabella Golf Club, Western Cape, where the global final will be staged.
Giora Friede thanked Audi for hosting a great final competition, although he acknowledged nerves at the beginning of the day.
“We are delighted to have won today, and we will proudly represent Australia at the world final, and hope to be able to bring home the Audi quattro Cup. The good news is, we’ve played the course before!” Mr Friede said.
Audi Australia’s General Manager Marketing, Kevin Goult, presented the winning duo with their prize at a gala presentation dinner at ARIA restaurant last night.
“Globally, Audi is one of the largest supporters of amateur golf through the Audi quattro Cup tournament. Since the company began the series in 1997, more than 1 million people have competed as guests of the brand,” Mr Goult said.
“This grass-roots support is important to Audi because we are able to reach tens of thousands of Audi owners every year, around the world, and support their passion for golf.
“In Australia, golf is a very social, yet competitive game and we saw this out on the Henry Head course today. While all of our teams showed great camaraderie, there were nerves and there was steely concentration – only one pair can win, after all. On behalf of Audi Australia, I congratulate Giora and Jason and wish them success at the world final in November,” Mr Goult said.
The international showdown with participants from around the world will be held at the Arabella Golf Club, Western Cape (South Africa) from November 23 to 27, 2012. In the history of the game, only one other Australian duo has won the global final – in 2007 in Mexico.
