VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – Oct 8, 2012: With the financial support of the Federal Government, VACC, the peak automotive body in Victoria and Tasmania will roll out from October 2012, the Automotive Energy Information Program. Designed to identify and promote energy efficiency practices and resources, practical information for the industry to reduce costs and adopt energy efficiencies will be distributed over the two year program.

“The automotive industry has made great strides in recent years to become more environmentally friendly and introduce more sustainable business practices. However, with increasing energy and other business costs, VACC is keen to explore opportunities to improve energy efficiencies which in turn will reduce the cost of doing business”, said Leyla Yilmaz, General Manager IR OHSE and Training.

“The Automotive Energy Efficiency Program was designed to add value to an already popular Green Stamp Plus Accreditation program, which VACC Members are using to promote their sustainable business practices to the community and their client base”, added Leyla.

Specifically, the Program will involve:

  • 100 free energy audits conducted by an energy specialist across a diverse range of businesses over the next year
  • The energy audits will be used to identify practical cost saving measures that can be shared among automotive businesses
  • The development of automotive specific advice and support
  • Seminars and information sessions to promote energy efficient practices and innovative business case studies used by the automotive industry
  • Industry specific guidelines and fact sheets
  • A dedicated energy efficiency website
  • An energy efficiency telephone hotline operated by VACC

VACC Members are already volunteering to participate in the free energy audits. If an automotive business has less than 200 full-time employees and is interested in accessing a free energy audit, contact the VACC OHSE Unit on 03 9829 1117. Register your interest quickly, as only 100 free assessments are available.

VACC is the peak automotive industry body in Victoria and represents more than 5,500 small business members in the retail, service and repair sector of the Victorian and Tasmanian automotive industry.
