Audi's Best Amateur Golfers Tee Off for National Final
ZETLAND, AUSTRALIA – Oct 8, 2012: The top golf-loving Audi owners will compete in the finale of the Australian round of the Audi quattro cup on Monday 8 October at the famous Henry Head, NSW Golf Club. All up, thirty four players will tee off on Monday, all vying for a position in the world final, to be hosted in South Africa in November.
The quattro cup competition has been played out across Australia’s best golf courses since April, with over 1,100 participants competing. The invitation to compete in the tournament is extended by Audi dealerships around Australia for key clients who are interested in golf. Seventeen regional tournaments were held, with the top thirty four players advancing through the “foursomes with selected drive” format.
Golf is one of Audi’s signature sporting events worldwide, and the Audi quattro Cup is one of most prominent amateur golf tournaments on the Australian golfing calendar, according to Audi Australia’s Managing Director, Uwe Hagen.
“The Audi quattro Cup is one of the largest and most prestigious amateur tournaments in the world. Last year, close to 80,000 people competed globally in Audi-sponsored tournaments. This year, that number increased to 85,000 players – a clear demonstration of increased interest in golf,” Mr Hagen said.
“Golf resonates strongly with our customers. It is a game that offers something for everyone who plays – from fierce competition to complete relaxation. Perhaps mostimportantly, golf is a highly-accepted sport in Australia and connects well with Audi’s brand values of sportiness and progressiveness. We also look forward to announcing more golf news in the coming months,” Mr Hagen said.
The winning pair from Monday’s national final will travel to South Africa in November as guests of Audi to represent the Australian flag at the world final, against more than 50 other nations. The host club is the Arabella Golf Club, Western Cape, South Africa.
The pair will also win a complete golf outfit by TaylorMade in preparation for the global event.
The pair coming in second will win an impressive hospitality package for the Australian Women’s Open, and the third place prize will be an invitation to the highly-soughtafter Audi Drive Experience.
The winners will be announced by Audi Ambassador, Matthew Burke, at a gala presentation dinner at ARIA restaurant on Monday night.
