SAE International Symposium Focuses on All Aspects of Composites

sae international

WARRENDALE, PA--Sept. 28, 2012: The performance of composites makes them attractive in a variety of applications. However, composites have historically not been a very cost competitive option to metals due to several factors - primarily very expensive materials and labor intensive manufacturing methods. As more automated manufacturing methods for composite components are beginning to be developed, the total cost comes down helping to offset the issue of raw materials which makes composites a more viable material resource in aerospace, automotive and wind energy industries.

The "SAE 2013 Design, Manufacturing and Economics of Composites Symposium" focuses on design, tooling, and manufacturing topics across a wide range of industry segments. Additionally, this symposium will address a variety of economic issues that are typically considered when implementing composites. Come hear from a variety of experts as they discuss how composites are being used as a viable option to other materials.

The event will be held Jan. 29-30, 2013, at Torino Incontra Conference Centre in Torino, Italy. In addition to the technical sessions, the symposium will feature:

  • Peer-to-Peer Networking -- Attendees will connect with their peers by discussing challenges and ideas, and leave with invaluable improvements and solutions.
  • Interactive Panels - Attendees can use this opportunity to ask experts from aero, auto, and wind energy industries questions on critical issues.
  • Exhibition -- Attendees can discover new and established companies, and see innovative technologies from global tier suppliers, and equipment manufacturers.
