LOS ANGELES--Sept. 12, 2012: Motor Press Guild (MPG), the largest automotive media association in North America, today announced that Continental Automotive will return as presenting sponsor of its annual Track Day event on October 9 and 10 at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. Track Day allows MPG journalist members to evaluate new vehicles from dozens of manufacturers in a variety of driving scenarios. Eligible journalists will also choose one outstanding vehicle to be named the Motor Press Guild "Vehicle of the Year." In addition, all members of the automotive industry are invited to view exhibits from MPG's wide range of automotive partners.
"The Motor Press Guild Track Day event is the cornerstone of our organization and offers our members access to the newest vehicles and automotive technology. We're thrilled to have Continental Automotive return as our title sponsor, and we look forward to experiencing their latest developments," said Laura Burstein, Motor Press Guild President.
MPG's eligible journalist and analyst members will evaluate vehicles on the Auto Club Speedway's interior road course, as well as on the street. Returning for 2012 is the Dynamic Handling Course, a low-speed, tight-turning, high-braking circuit for testing handling and safety features. In addition, Continental Automotive will offer demonstrations of its new Simplify your Drive Concept. At the push of a button, Simplify your Drive provides access to a range of vehicle characteristics thus enabling car owners to change the settings of their vehicle by switching between different preconfigured driving profiles. The look and feel of the interior including the display; engine and transmission settings; infotainment and comfort systems will adapt to suit the selected driving profile.
"MPG Track Day offers an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our latest advanced technologies that are available today as well as a glimpse into what the future will bring," said Brad Jackson, Continental Automotive's Director of Communication, NAFTA region. "We're happy to return as the presenting sponsor for this event and even more excited to be partnering with such an engaged and knowledgeable organization as MPG."
