Hyundai iLoad and iMax Ranges Now Even More Frugal with Fuel

SYDNEY – Aug 21, 2012: Hyundai Motor Company Australia has updated the award winning iLoad van and iMax eight-seat shuttle ranges with more fuel efficient diesel engines, and a new six-speed manual transmission.

Whether its moving people or pallets, these frugal new powertrain combinations further enhance Hyundai’s versatile, practical and stylish iLoad and iMax model line-ups.

Performance
The iLoad and iMax range of vehicles is now available with a more fuel efficient 2.5-litre CRDi turbo diesel engine mated to a new six-speed manual transmission. In iLoad configuration this delivers 8L/100km^, a 6% reduction in fuel consumption; while the uprated 2.5-litre CRDi turbo diesel engine and five-speed automatic transmission combination achieve 8.8L/100km^, an 8% improvement, taking a real load off business operators’ diesel fuel bills.

When fitted with the 2.5-litre CRDi turbo diesel engine mated to the new six-speed manual transmission, the iMax achieves 8.1L/100km^, a 5% more fuel efficient operation; while the uprated 2.5-litre CRDi turbo diesel engine and five-speed automatic transmission combination improves to 9L/100km^, an 8% reduction in fuel consumption.

When mated to the six-speed manual transmission, the diesel engine's peak torque now starts earlier in the rev range from 1500 rpm through to 2500 rpm, ensuring greater usability around town and has a standard Waste Gate Turbo (WGT). Peak power is 100 kW @ 3800 rpm. Mated to the five-speed automatic transmission, the diesel engine’s peak torque has increased to 441Nm @ 2000 to 2250 rpm and has a Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT). Peak power is 125kW @ 3600 rpm.

Shift into Gear
Hyundai is one of an elite group of automotive companies who design and manufacture their own transmissions in-house.The new six-speed manual gearbox utilises multi-cone synchronisers for improved shift quality, and includes a button-operated reverse gear lock-out to provide further ease of operation. The short stroke of the transmission ensures a quick and accurate shift action to further enhance the economy of the driveline.

Comfort and Convenience
Offering business a myriad of load carrying possibilities, the iLoad can handle up to two pallets with ease within its 4.3 cubic metre capacity, while offering seating for three – or up to six in crew van configuration. The intelligent design of the iLoad is demonstrated by offering standard twin sliding doors to reduce reach for easy load and unload, and a large lift tailgate to provide a sheltered workspace. Twin-swing (barn) doors are available as a factory option on selected models, with removable hinge pins that allow the twin-swing doors to open to 180 degrees, offering plenty of room for a forklift.

For moving people plus their lifestyle accessories and luggage, iMax is a class leader. With flexible eight-seat capacity, plus plenty of stowage space behind the third row and a well thought out, comfortable and well-appointed interior including dual-zone air conditioning, to ensure occupants travel in space and comfort.

Packed with conveniences, the iLoad, and iMax ranges offer Bluetooth connectivity providing safe hands-free telephone use and audio streaming with any compatible device. Full iPod integration (via the USB port) allows customers to connect using their original iPod cables, conveniently making operation possible via the head unit or steering wheel. Functional and well-designed interiors focus on driver comfort including air-conditioning, power windows and mirrors, indoor storage compartments, cup holders and twin glove box to provide enhanced convenience and improved functionality.
