VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – Aug 21, 2012: Readers of the AUTO BILD Group have chosen the Mazda CX-5 as the winner and most attractive vehicle in the “SUV, Van and All-Wheel” category at the respected publication’s 2012 European Design Awards.

Approximately 200,000 readers from all AUTO BILD subsidiary publications across 15 countries voted on which European car has the best design in various categories. The Mazda CX-5 sprinted away from its SUV and all-wheel competitors with 17.8 per cent of the votes to take home the European design trophy in its segment ahead of the Audi A6 Allroad and the Audi Q3.

The Mazda CX-5 was voted as the most attractive new car in its category by readers from several countries and this was enough to secure the overall category win when the votes from all European countries were tallied.

This latest win follows on from the Mazda3’s success in the 2009 AUTO BILD European Design Awards where it was voted as the most attractive new car in the “Small and Compact Car” category even before official market launch in Germany.

This is also Mazda’s second European design award in recent weeks with the Takeri concept having been honoured earlier in the month by a jury of international automotive journalists at the 2012 Automotive Brand Contest.

The Mazda CX-5 is the first production model to feature the company’s new “KODO – Soul of Motion” design language which combines motion with the beauty and power of nature.
