Skoda vehicles have come up trumps in four of 16 categories in the 2012 Wheels Gold Star Value awards.

MLADA BOLESLAV, CZECH REPUBLIC – Aug 17, 2012: Beginning with the light car segment, the Fabia 77TSI, offering convincing fuel and insurance premium savings and a class leading score of 66 percent for retained value, claimed first prize.

The best value medium car under $45K was awarded to the Škoda Octavia 90TSI scoring a notable 62 percent in the resale stakes and offering the most competitive price point of its class.

In 2012, Škoda Superb variants dominated the value awards’ large car categories. Moving up on last year’s placing to claim pole position, the Superb 118TSI was recognised as Wheels Gold Star Value large car under $45k.

Likewise, with a resale value 10 percentage points better than its competitors, innovative technology, fit, finish and drivability; the category winner for the best value large car under $60K was awarded to the Skoda Superb V6.

Wheels magazine commented on Skoda’s success, “Throw in a second place for the Yeti (Compact SUV category) and the Czech brand is the dominant value player, even more impressive when you consider Škoda only contested these five classes.”

Matthew Wiesner, director of Škoda Australia, was thrilled with the results, “These awards confirm our belief that Škoda offers the best value product.”

“Skoda is at the forefront of simply clever design, value and quality. Recognition from Wheel magazine, an Australian motor industry authority, proves we are achieving our goals.”

Wheels Gold Star Value awards compared vehicles in 16 different categories ranging from light vehicles under $20K to performance cars valued up to $150K across a range of criteria including warranty, fuel economy, purchase price, depreciation, insurance costs, and service schedules and prices.
