CRANSTON, RI--August 16, 2012: Rhode Islanders are reminded that driver's license renewals are available online for every other renewal period, thanks to a collaboration between the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles (RI DMV) and RI.gov, the State of Rhode Island's official website. Prior to the online service, Rhode Islanders were required to present themselves at one of the state's DMV locations or at AAA, if members. In his continuing effort to streamline the DMV, Governor Lincoln Chafee announced the new online service in May. Those wishing to renew their driver's license may go directly to, https://www.ri.gov/DMV/licenserenewal/. Users should pay particular attention to the service home page, which outlines eligibility. Once the online renewal is submitted, the Rhode Island DMV will mail the actual driver's license.

The Rhode Island DMV online driver's license renewal service can also be accessed on smartphones including the iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android. Just go to RI DMV License Renewal and renew every other five-year period from your mobile device. The screen will automatically size to fit without needing to download any applications. For more information about renewing your driver's license in Rhode Island, please visit, RI DMV.
