Kia Stays On The Pace in Sales Race
SYDNEY – Aug 7, 2012: Kia kept the pedal to the metal in its bid to be the fastest growing mainstream importer for 2012 with an impressive year-to-date growth of 23.4 per cent at the end of July, according to figures released by industry monitor VFACTS.
With sales of 2337 in July Kia maintained its growth momentum with impressive year-on-year sales growth of 139 per cent for the stylish Optima mid-sized sedan, 46.6 per cent for the Cerato small car and 34.7 per cent for the large SUV Sorento.
In addition the new Rio scored an impressive 5.9 per cent share of the highly competitive Light Car segment while the Carnival continued to record market share of 33.3 per cent of the People Mover segment. Overall, Kia recorded a passenger segment market share of 4.1 per cent.
“Once again we are very pleased with our overall performance in July,” Kia Motors Australia Chief Operating Officer Tony Barlow said. “Growth of almost 24 per cent in a market that has grown just under 10 per cent is obviously very pleasing.
“It shows quite clearly that while our growth continues to outstrip the market the message that Kia is a smart choice for value, style and engineering is gaining penetration with new car shoppers.”
Mr Barlow said the release of Kia’s industry-leading capped price service program, Kia Connect, and anticipation for the new Sorento due later this year would continue to shine a light on Kia.
“We are not resting on our laurels,” Mr Barlow said. “The focus is on our customers, current and future, and we will continue to provide the best in ownership experience with exciting cars and worry-free servicing.”
